Wasted time.....?

I'm off on Fridays so I usually use this time to run errands and work on "fun" things around the house....scrapbooking, photoshop elements, just FUN things! Today....not so fun. I hate those days where you get up with ALL these wonderful ideas of things to do...things that need to get done...and I end up playing on the computer for what turns out to be HOURS!! I got NOTHING accomplished today!! And my Fridays are SO important to me! What a wasted day!!.....pooh!

Well, I just recently "got my house back"! What I mean by that is that my youngest son, his bride-to-be and their beautiful baby boy moved out of the house. I have such mixed emotions about this. On one hand, it's nice to be able to watch what I want on TV, to be able to go to the bathroom without closing the door (oh my!!) and to be able to run the vacuum without fear of waking someone. On the other hand, it's very quiet around here. I miss little Colton something awful!! His little giggle was music to my ear! Even the crying is missed. Thank goodness they still live within driving distance....only about 20 minutes away.

Tonight is the start of Football Season around our house! First big game!! I'm kind of excited!....the band..the cheerleaders...the coaches....the players....the EXCITEMENT! It will be fun! I'm taking my camera and hope I can get some fun shots!!

Guess I'd better go get ready. We have to leave so early in order to beat the traffic. Amazing...small towns practically roll up the streets before a hometown game! Almost everyone goes! What fun!

Father's Day

Happy Father's Day to all you dads out there! We just got back from lunch with my husband's father and mother, my two sons and their soon-to-be brides, one of my grandsons and my brother-in-law and his two sons. My daughter and her husband and son are on the road back from Houston. (been to a wedding). Anyway, they are taking my husband out to eat as well when they get here! Oh my!! Dinner out twice in one day!! Guess the diet will start tomorrow!!

I called my daddy to wish him a Happy Father's Day. Bless his heart...he kept forgetting what day it was. He's 94 and has the beginnings of Alzhimer's disease. It really breaks my heart. It's almost unbearable to watch his mind fade away. So far it hasn't been bad.....forgets names...forgets what he had for breakfast (or even that he HAD breakfast)...had to ask Bea if he went to church this morning. But thankfully he still has a sense of humor. He may not always remember my name, but he knows I love him dearly.

My daddy and I have always been close. He used to call me Nubbins when I was little (he said I had a Nubbin-nose) . He said he never had to spank me because I apparently was "smarter" than the other 3 kids and learned what not to do...either that, or I was just sneakier!! But I love my daddy dearly and hate seeing him fade away. He's a wonderfully kind hearted man, small in stature but big in his heart. He was a well-known veterinarian back in his day, and still has a reputation around town with the vets that are out there now. I'm so proud when I hear them tell me that he led the way to what veterinary medicine is today.

I love you, daddy. Have a wonderful day!

I'm SUCH a slacker!!

Wow, I can't believe it's been so long since I've posted. A lot has happened since. I now have a SECOND BEAUTIFUL grandson! His name is Colton Wayne and he was born on April 20 of this year. He's such a blessing. Life is good! (pictures to follow at a later date)

Cody is helping me do a little home improvement around the house. Lord knows it needs it! I keep telling Russ that it will take us 3 years to get this place in shape in order to sell it. He doesn't seem to believe me. (and my list just keeps growing and growing!) Right now we are working on the masterbath. We've still got so much more to do in there. Of course, it doesn't help that I'm such a procrastinator! (thus the long delay between blog posts!) But I'm bound and determined to get it done within the next few weeks.....or months...In fact I should be in there working on it now rather than sitting here trying to type one handed and hold little Colton in the other hand.

Time for a bottle! Later!!

My attempt to download a picture...

As I promised before, I'm going to try to download a picture of my adorable new grandson. We'll see if this works.....

Valentine's Day!

(I know...it's two days AFTER Valentine's Day...)
What can I say? I LOVE this man! He surprised me with a dozen YELLOW roses...my favorite! He's such the romantic. Poor guy..I'm not the least bit romantic (I got him a cheesy card..). To me, Valentine's Day is just a "holiday" that was made up by Hallmark or someone. You shouldn't have to have a day set aside to tell someone that you love them. EVERY day should be Valentine's Day!! EVERY day you should let your significant other know that they are special. It means more to me when he brings me a small bunch of flowers that he's gotten off the end of the aisle at the grocery store for $3 and given them to me for no particular reason...just that he loves me!! That melts my heart!! Or a text message telling me that he loves me MORE! What a love! He truly is the love of my life.
